Local Election 2010

Darren Geoffrey Pedley

Darren Geoffrey Pedley

Balderstone & Kirkholt Ward

20 Daventry Road
OL11 2LN

Living in the heart of Balderstone & Kirkholt all my adult life, and having previously been elected in the Ward, I am pleased and honoured to once again be standing to represent the people of Balderstone and Kirkholt as their councillor. I am well known within the Ward. I am and have been involved with many aspects of the community, including:

  • Chair of Governors at Sandbrook Community Primary School
  • Friends of Balderstone Park
  • Save Balderstone Library Campaign
  • Save Buersil Post Office Campaign
  • Vision For Kirkholt

I believe strongly in the regeneration of Kirkholt and will continue to work with the local community to achieve what the tenants and residents want. There is a desperate need for road improvements especially after the bad winter and in particular the urgent need to fill pot holes as well as drain cleaning to alleviate the flooding that happens around the ward when it rains.

Being privileged to represent Balderstone and Kirkholt previously from 2004 to 2007, I applied to stand originally through the Labour Party. I was not allowed on the panel of candidates due to a number of reasons. My concern regarding the Labour Party Parliamentary Candidate and his treatment of the seven who were expelled and the fact that the seat had been promised to someone else in return for their support are but two.

I am totally disgusted with the way that serving Politicians have treated us, the electorate. They seem to have forgotten who put them there and why. Something I have never done, or will do. I am standing to represent the people of Balderstone & Kirkholt, not to line my own pockets, as others have.

In contrast I am standing as an independent because I wish to serve the people of Balderstone and Kirkholt once again. I will campaign for what the community want and will always have the best interests of the Ward at heart.

I will hold regular surgeries at times and places that are convenient to the people of Balderstone & Kirkholt. I will be contactable on my home phone, my mobile and my email 7 days a week. Making it both easier for you to reach me and for me to assist you in whatever way I can.
