Minutes of the 96th meeting on 16 October 2012.
Present: Peter Evans (Chairman), Cynthia Davis, Keith Hallam, Brian Holden, Barry Horner, John F Kay, John Kershaw, Chris Orentas, Cllr Ann Stott, Roger Davis.
1. Minutes of last meeting (no. 95) approved.
2. Durn Marina.
2.1 No developments regarding the purchase of the site from RMBC and no work is taking place on the building.
2.2 No progress on Schofield Street obstruction.
3. Littleborough Volunteer Lengthsman Scheme.
3.1 IG is looking after the area from lock 43 to 47 and Richard ? from lock 47 to 50.
3.2 It was suggested that notices be placed adjacent to locks 47 and 50, also the Visitors Centre at the Lake explaining the scheme in an effort to find volunteers. JFK will contact Jon Stopp to ascertain if he favoured this and also the wording of these notices.
Will also suggest JS contacts the Anglers Club.
Would JS like the notice to be put on LCDG web site?
3.3 CO suggested JS look at the Ancoats Canal Project web site for information. Their web site is:

4.Akzo Site.
4.1 No news regarding the complaint submitted.
4.2 A sewer had collapsed in Hollingworth Road resulting in sewage coming out on to the Akzo site and going towards the canal. Contacts had been made to the Environment Agency and UU. A UU engineer had visited the site and been shown where foam was coming up. He had stated if the pipe was broken the foam could contaminate the site. PE had taken a photograph of the foam. UU have now to investigate and take the necessary action.
5. Railway Arches.
5.1 No further news re planning application.
6. Any further Business.
6.1.CO advised the Waterways Trust were due to meet Ray McDonald regarding the sale of the Lock House. The meeting expressed its concern regarding this. It was agreed KH will ascertain the current situation and report at the next meeting.
7. Next meetings: Tuesdays 20 November, 15 January 2013 and 19 February 2013. All at 19.30h in the United Reformed Church, Victoria Street, Littleborough.
